Blue Star Blitz
Blue Star Blitz is an annual trail racing event at Anne Springs Close Greenway held on March 7, 2026 at the Lake Haigler Entrance. The event presents multiple race formats on the Greenway trails, including trail runs, a hike option, family adventure activities and timed adventure races with mapped checkpoints.
Race options include:
- 5K trail race
- 10K trail race
- 5K Hike Challenge
- Family Adventure Race (untimed, scorecard based)
- Two hour Adventure Race (solo or teams of 2-4, on foot)
- Four hour Adventure Race (solo or teams of 2-4, on foot and mountain bike)
Courses run through woodlands, rolling hills and mixed-surface trails on Greenway property. The 5K and 10K award medals and prizes to the top three overall male and female finishers; medals are awarded three places deep in each age group (19 and under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+). Family Adventure Race entries are scored per scorecard; an adult must accompany racers under 13 and completed scorecards are eligible for prizes. Adventure races use pre-plotted maps and checkpoints; teams are ranked by the number of checkpoints collected, with time used as a tiebreaker. Mandatory gear includes hydration, a map, a compass and a waterproof map bag; four hour participants must provide a mountain bike and helmet.
Events run rain or shine unless severe weather prompts cancellation. Registration is non-refundable unless refund protection is purchased; transfers more than two weeks before the event are at the Race Director's discretion. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
