Blue Ridge Turkey Trot
The Blue Ridge Turkey Trot is an annual Thanksgiving Day race and walk held in downtown Blue Ridge, Georgia. The event features a road 5K that starts in front of the downtown children’s park at East Main and Church Street. The event is organized by a race director, a student director, and a team of volunteers.
Registration is online only. Fees are listed by the organizer and change in the week before Thanksgiving; shirts are ordered in advance and are available on a first come, first served basis for late registrants. Packet pickup is offered at the race location on the Wednesday before the race and on race day, with shirt selection dependent on availability. Children under 12 may participate without a bib or shirt at no charge but must be accompanied by a registered adult; participants age 12 and older must register.
Parking is available within easy walking distance of the start/finish. Options noted by the organizer include two parking lots at the First Baptist of Blue Ridge and additional parking at a nearby corner building.
Awards include medals for the top three male and female finishers and first place trophies for 10-year age brackets. The overall winner is determined by gun time and age-bracket placers by chip time; race results are posted within 48 hours. If the event is canceled for severe weather there is no reschedule and no refund or rain check. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
