ASICS Blue Jean Mile
The ASICS Blue Jean Mile is a unique running event held at the Ray Treacy Track at Providence College. Organized in partnership with the Gansett Run Club, the event aims to raise awareness for mental health. The concept originated from a world record performance where an athlete ran a mile in denim to support mental health initiatives.
Participants are required to follow a specific dress code for this event: wearing a pair of blue jeans while completing the distance. The event is open to individuals of all experience levels, and participants may choose to walk, jog, or sprint. There is no cost to participate, though registration is required.
The available event formats include:
- 1 Mile (In-person at Providence College)
- 1 Mile (Virtual event)
The event supports the National Alliance on Mental Illness - Rhode Island Chapter (NAMI-RI). During the registration process, participants have the option to make a donation to this organization. This gathering focuses on breaking the stigma surrounding mental health through community participation and physical activity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
