Event overview
The Blue Heron Half Marathon and 5k will be held on April 26, 2026, at Riverdale Regional Park in Brighton, Colorado. The race is an annual club event organized by Rocky Mountain Road Runners. Both courses start and finish at Riverdale Regional Park, located across from the Adams County Fairgrounds. Courses are subject to change due to construction along the trail.

Course information and logistics
Both courses run along the South Platte River and are described as flat and fast. The 5k is about half paved and half smooth dirt. The half marathon is mostly flat, with about 3.5 miles on smooth dirt. The half begins with a loop around Mann-Nyholt Lake, continues south toward Valente Lake with a 1.2 mile loop there, then returns to the finish. Aid stations are located at several points, approximately at 0.8, 2.8, 4.25, 7.1, 8.25, 11.1 and 12.5 miles. Bathrooms are available at the start/finish and at about 4.25, 7.1, 8.25 and 11.1 miles. Parking is available at the park, with access from Campground Way. Pricing and registration options are listed for the 2026 edition, and Rocky Mountain Road Runners members receive a discount.
