Blue Heron 5K 2027
Blue Heron 5K is organized by Excelsior Running Club and takes place on July 10, 2027 in Golden Gate Park, San Francisco. The course starts at Peacock Meadow on John F. Kennedy Drive, follows JFK Drive, loops around Blue Heron Lake, and returns to Peacock Meadow. The route is rolling and has 135 feet of elevation gain. Chip timing will be provided by Ford Timing.
The event is part of the Pacific Association USA Track & Field Road Short Course Grand Prix Series and will include an elite field with prize money. PAUSATF membership is required for prize money payouts. Officials will disqualify any USATF athletes wearing headphones from prize awards or Grand Prix scoring. Other participants may wear headphones but are asked to exercise caution. Strollers must start at the back and avoid impeding other participants.
Bathroom access is available with portable toilets in Peacock Meadows and six public restrooms nearby, including locations at the tennis courts, Conservatory of Flowers, carousel/playground, baseball fields, Beer and Wine Garden, and across from the Boathouse at Blue Heron Lake.
Entry fees vary by registration period and category. All entry fees are non refundable and transfers incur a $5 administrative fee. Street parking is available along Nancy Pelosi Drive and Bowling Green Drive. The event also features a short 400 meter dash for children.
