About the race
Blubberhouses Moor is an organised walking and running event on 21 March 2027, organised by LDWA - Nidderdale and based at Norwood Community Hall, Bland Hill (HG3 1TB).
The route covers a tough 23+ mile course with a 9.5 hour completion limit. The course passes Bland Hill, Swinsty Reservoir, Fewston Reservoir, Thruscross Reservoir, Rocking Hall, Bolton Abbey, Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill, Ellarcarr Pike and Timble before returning to Bland Hill. The recommended map is OS Explorer 297.
Checkpoints are placed along the route, including CP6 at Ling Chapel Farm where there is a cut off at 13.45; any entrant not departing CP6 before that time will be retired from the event. Entrants must visit all checkpoints in order and retain a fully clipped tally to avoid disqualification. Retirements at roadside checkpoints will be returned to the start by provided transport.
Entry is limited to 250 participants and there are no entries on the day. The event is open to people aged 16 years and over; anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The event package includes a certificate, a badge, some checkpoint refreshments and a hot meal at the finish with a vegetarian option.
Organisers strongly recommend carrying a correct map, whistle, compass or GPS, waterproof jacket, over trousers, first aid kit, survival bag or blanket, emergency rations and a mug. Parking should be with care on adjacent roadsides and dogs are not allowed on the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
