About the race
Blubberhouses Moor is a long-distance walkers and runners event that follows a roughly 23+ miles route around Bland Hill and nearby reservoirs and fells. The course passes Swinsty Reservoir, Fewston Reservoir, Thruscross Reservoir, Rocking Hall, Bolton Abbey, Beamsley Beacon, Round Hill, Ellarcarr Pike and Timble, with the start and finish at Bland Hill (Norwood Community Hall, Bland Hill, HG3 1TB). The route is shown on OS Explorer 297.
Entry is limited to 250 participants and there are no entries on the day. The stated entry fee is £8.00. The event is open to people aged 16 years and over; anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The event includes a certificate, a badge, some checkpoint refreshments and a hot meal at the finish with a vegetarian option.
There is a mandatory cut-off at CP6 (Ling Chapel Farm) of 13.45; entrants not departing CP6 before this time will be retired from the event. Checkpoints must be visited in order and competitors must present a fully clipped tally at the finish. Retirements should be made at roadside checkpoints only and transport back to the start will be provided. No dogs are allowed. Entrants are strongly recommended to carry a correct map, whistle, compass or GPS, waterproof jacket and over trousers, first aid kit, survival bag or blanket, emergency rations and a mug.
