Blithfield Standard Triathlon & Aquabike
The event takes place at Blithfield Reservoir with event headquarters at Blithfield Sailing Club, Seedcroft Lane, near Abbots Bromley, Staffordshire WS15 3DU. The reservoir and surrounding woodland occupy a rural area; the woodland is a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the reservoir covers 790 acres, opened in 1952.
Course formats are standard distance triathlon and an aquabike option. The course layout uses open water for the swim, open roads for the bike and a mixed trail and tarmac run over the dam wall. The bike is run over two laps on a fast rolling loop; the run is two laps out-and-back with a feedstation on course.
Race distances
- Swim (open water) - 1.5K, 2 laps
- Bike (open roads) - 39K, 2 laps
- Run (trail/tarmac) - 10K, 2 laps
Relay teams may be formed of two or three members, with each team member completing one discipline and using the timing chip as the baton. Toilets and showers are provided on site. Professional photographers will attend the event. Prize categories include 10 year age groups for winners, relay teams and aquabike open and female categories. Entry fees are listed for affiliated and non affiliated competitors and closing date is to be confirmed. Race information will be published one week before the event.
