Blithfield Olympic Triathlon and Aquabike
The Blithfield Olympic Triathlon and Aquabike takes place at Blithfield Reservoir in Staffordshire. This 790-acre site is surrounded by woodland designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest. The event base is located at the Blithfield Sailing Club in Abbotts Bromley. Participants can choose from three main entry categories:
- Individual Triathlon: A combined swim, bike, and run event.
- Aquabike: A distance event featuring the swim and bike legs.
- Relay: A team-based version of the triathlon.
The competition begins with a 1.5 km open water swim in the reservoir, conducted over two laps. Following the swim, participants move to a rolling bike course. The cycling segment consists of two laps covering a total elevation of 355 m. The triathlon concludes with a 10 km run (based on the standard Olympic distance) that utilizes a two-lap route. This final stage features a mixture of trail and road surfaces with a total elevation of 22 m.
The event is organized by PMA Racing and forms part of a triathlon series that includes events in Ashbourne and Derby. Registration for the race is open until early August. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
