About the race
The Blencathra Fell Race, organized by Eden Runners, is a challenging 13-kilometer mountain race with 825 meters of ascent, held in the Lake District starting from Mungrisdale. This evening event demands strong navigation skills and mountain-craft due to potentially difficult terrain and unpredictable weather, making it unsuitable for beginners. The course includes checkpoints at Bowscale Fell, Blencathra Summit, and Souther Fell, with route marshals stationed at key points.
GPS use is prohibited, and competitors must carry mandatory safety kit and have an OS race map. Entry is £6 on the night, with parking at Low Beckside Farm. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
