Haweswater Half Marathon : event overview

The Haweswater Half Marathon is a road race held by Eden Runners in Bampton, Cumbria. The course is an out-and-back route on quiet, undulating tarmac roads that runs along the shores of Haweswater in a Lake District valley. The event is held under UKA rules and the distance is certified. The race has a field limit of 500 and a strict minimum age of 16 on race day. Course records are listed as 1:09:00 for men and 1:19:15 for women.

Logistics, entries and prizes

Race registration and toilets are at Bampton Village Hall, CA10 2RQ, and the start is a short walk from the hall. Parking is available at the village hall and village green; organisers encourage car sharing and will coordinate parking with marshals. Entries open on 1 October 2025 and close on 27 February 2026. Entry fees are listed with lower early prices for UKA members and non-members and increase from 11 January 2026. The entry limit is 500 and entries displayed show current participant numbers.

Prizes are awarded to the first three overall male and female finishers and to category winners including U23, V40, V50, V60, V70 and the first team of three. All finishers receive a hot drink and a slice of Traybake flapjack; a vegan option is available. Participants may opt to donate £2 of their entry fee to RSPB Wild Haweswater instead of receiving the event mug. Headphones are not permitted under UKA rules unless they are bone-conducting.
