Event overview

The Haweswater Half Marathon takes place on Sunday 1 March 2026 in Bampton, Cumbria (Bampton Village Hall, CA10 2RQ). The course starts in Bampton Village and follows an out-and-back route along the shores of Haweswater on quiet, undulating tarmac roads in a Lake District valley. The event is organized by Eden Runners. The race entry limit is 500 and the minimum age is 16 on the day. Entries open 1 October 2025 and close 27 February 2026; there were 52 participants listed at the time of posting.

Logistics, prizes and rules

Race registration and toilets are at Bampton Village Hall and the race start is a short walk from the hall. Parking is available at the village hall and the village green; parking will be coordinated by marshals and participants are asked not to park on the race route or in the village. Organizers offer an option to donate £2 of the entry fee to the RSPB instead of receiving an official event mug. All finishers receive a hot drink and a slice of Traybake flapjack, with a vegan option available.

Prizes are awarded to the top three male and female overall, plus category prizes for U23, V40, V50, V60, V70 and the first team of three.
