Haweswater Half Marathon (1 March 2026)
The event is a half marathon held on Sunday 1 March 2026. The course starts in Bampton Village and is mainly an out-and-back on quiet tarmac roads along the shores of Haweswater in a remote mountain valley. Registration and event facilities are based at Bampton Village Hall, CA10 2RQ. The event is held under UKA rules and the distance is certified.
Entries, rules and facilities
Entries open 1 October 2025 and close 27 February 2026. Entry fees are listed separately for UKA members and non-members, with higher rates applying from 11 January 2026. The minimum age on race day is 16 and the entry limit is 500. Prizes are awarded 1st to 3rd overall male and female, plus category prizes (U23, V40, V50, V60, V70) and first team of three. Under UKA rules, standard headphones are not permitted except bone-conducting types.
All finishers receive a hot drink and a slice of Traybakes flapjack, with a vegan option available. Participants may elect to donate £2 of their entry fee to RSPB Wild Haweswater instead of receiving the official event mug. The organisers promote sustainable measures such as car sharing, cycle parking and e-bike charging in the village, reuse of signage and donation of cups at water stations.
