Event details

The Haweswater Half Marathon is scheduled for Sunday 1st March 2026 and is organised by Eden Runners. The event distance is a half marathon. The race location and registration base is Bampton Village Hall, Bampton, Cumbria, CA10 2RQ. Entries open 1 October 2025 and close 27 February 2026. Entry fees are listed for UKA members and non-members, with higher rates applying from 11 January 2026. The minimum age on race day is 16 and the entry limit is 500. The event is held under UKA rules, the distance is certified, and it is registered with RunEvents.

Route and facilities

The course starts in Bampton Village and primarily follows an out-and-back route on quiet tarmac roads along the shores of Haweswater in a remote mountain valley. Parking is available at the village hall and village green; parking will be coordinated by marshals and car sharing is encouraged. Local facilities include cycle stands at The Mardale Inn and a cycle hub at the valley stores for e-bike charging.

Race services and rules

All finishers receive a hot drink and a slice of Traybake flapjack, with a vegan option available. Entrants may choose to donate £2 of their entry fee to RSPB Wild Haweswater instead of receiving the official event mug. Prize categories include overall 1st to 3rd male and female, age-category prizes (U23, V40, V50, V60, V70) and a first team prize for teams of three.
