Event

The Whinlatter Moon Runner is a night-time head torch trail race of 10k held on 14 February 2026. The route will be fully waymarked. Entries open on 13 January 2026 and close on 11 February 2026. Minimum age to enter is 14. Entry fees are £23 for UKA members and £25 for non-members. The organiser is Greener Miles Running.

Location and logistics

The event takes place in Whinlatter Forest Park, Keswick, Cumbria (Siskins Cafe, CA12 5TW). There is a race HQ with toilets and space for approximately 200 cars. Medical support will be provided on the course. Refreshments and water/snacks will be available at the start/finish area and from the café.

Route, conditions and what is included

The course is very hilly and uses a mixture of hard packed gravel tracks, single twisting dirt tracks and occasional muddy bridleway within the forest. Organisers note that temperatures at this time of year can fall below freezing and advise warm clothing. Race entries include a branded event memento, a packet of wildflower seeds, free downloadable event photos, prizes for the top three male and top three female finishers and category prizes, plus sample products from Chia Charge and Mountain Fuel Sports Nutrition.
