Lakeland Paws: Whinlatter Tails
This event takes place in Whinlatter forest and uses the original Seat How route. It offers two marked, chip timed trail options and provides GPX files for download. Starts are individual to give dogs space at the beginning.
Course options include:
- 8K loop with 360 m of ascent reaching the summit of Seat How.
- 5K route with 240 m of ascent that joins the second half of the longer course.
Some sections of the Seat How route are narrower and steeper; for safety only one dog per runner is permitted on those sections and dogs must be run on a suitable harness. Runners may compete without a dog.
The event has an age minimum of 16 on the event date, and the entry fee is £20. Entries open on Monday 27 April 2026 and close on Saturday 6 February 2027. The organiser lists event terms, cancellation and refund information, and an entry list.
The event is part of the Lakeland Paws series and follows a format used at other Lakeland Paws events. The route uses forest roads and trails and returns to the visitors centre after the summit sections. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
