Bleak Midwinter Endurance Run
The Bleak Midwinter Endurance Run scheduled for January 24, 2026 in Springfield, MO has been cancelled. The organizer cancelled the 2026 event after the primary sponsor ended its partnership and indicated an intention to return in 2027. The event’s stated refund policy is that no refunds will be available, and the race was planned to run in rain, snow, or shine with cancellation only for safety reasons or factors beyond the organizer's control.
Event details
The event was a timed endurance run based at Sac River Mountain Bike Trails, a 300-acre park with over 14 miles of interconnected single-track managed by the Springfield-Greene County Park Board and part of the Ozark Greenways system. The course was a new roughly 4.15 mile loop of moderately technical single-track with rocks and roots, hardwood forests and small glades, and about 400 feet of elevation gain per loop. The loop is marked with permanent signs plus temporary directional signs, flags, and ribbons. All runners would start in the same direction for the first lap and then may run subsequent laps in either direction. Only completed laps counted for mileage and runners were required to check in between laps.
Only one aid station would operate at the Base Camp Pavilion, providing food, drinks, warming space, port-a-potties, and first aid; crews could set up tents around the pavilion. All registered runners received event-specific swag; 6- and 12-hour entrants received additional swag, and 50K (8 laps) and 50M (12 laps) finishers earned a special award.
