Blackwater Charity Triathlon 2026
The Blackwater Charity Triathlon takes place on Sunday 6 September 2026 at Blackwater Leisure Centre in Maldon, Essex. The event supports charity; proceeds are split between Blackwater Triathlon Club and the chosen charity, the Stroke Association.
The event includes several race formats with pool swims, cycle sections on rural roads and mostly paved runs with a small grass section. The pool swim is held in a 25 m indoor pool with a controlled start that limits swimmers per lane. The bike course for triathlon events uses one or two laps on mainly rural roads to the south of Maldon, passing towards Cold Norton and through Mundon before returning. The run course is primarily on paved surfaces and is traffic free.
Distances:
- Novice (Individual & Relay): 200 m swim, 12 km bike, 2.5 km run
- Sprint (Individual & Relay): 400 m swim, 21 km bike, 5 km run
- Tristar 3 Aquathon: 400 m swim, 3 km run
- Youth Aquathon: 400 m swim, 5 km run
Transition is located to the rear of the leisure centre with shower and changing facilities available. The event is run under British Triathlon Federation rules; an approved helmet and a BTF day licence or membership are required. Trophies are awarded in open sprint placings and category winners. The organiser maintains an entry limit and a waiting list once capacity is reached. Withdrawals received before the closing date are refundable less a £5 administration fee.
