Blackstone Edge Fell Race

The Blackstone Edge Fell Race is a short, sharp, and fast fell race in the South Pennines. The course is rough in parts and visits the prominent Blackstone Edge Trig point, the Pennine Way, and a Roman Old Road. It includes an infamous bog section.

The race covers 5.6 km with 366 m of ascent. It was inaugurated in 1983 and, unlike many races, has not suffered access restrictions, remaining on the same route throughout its history. It is an English Championship counter.

The race is hosted by Todmorden Harriers and is part of their Summer Series, which also includes the That’s So Hebden Bridge, Stoodley Pike, and Crow Hill Reverse fell races. Entrants for all four races are entered into a prize draw.

The minimum age is 16 years. Kit requirements are as per Fell Running Association (FRA) rules. Pre-entries are required via SI Entries; there is no entry on the day. The race location is Knowl Farm on Blackstone Edge Old Road in Littleborough. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
