Run the Lights 10k & 5k
Run the Lights is a night-time road event on Blackpool promenade, based at the Comedy Carpet and Tower Festival Headland. It offers two traffic-free distances along a flat promenade course:
- 10k
- 5k
Both courses are currently being assessed and will be professionally and officially measured before confirmation. The route runs beneath the Blackpool Illuminations with an advertised finish beneath Blackpool Tower.
Event HQ on the seafront handles registration, bib collection, baggage and key drop, toilets and medical support. Bib collection opens from 5.00pm at Event HQ and race numbers are arranged in surname order. A staffed baggage area and a key drop are available; all items are left at the owner’s risk. Portable toilets will be provided and queues may form before the race.
Travel and parking information notes numerous town centre car parks within easy walking distance. Blackpool North is the nearest mainline station, and the Tower tram stop is close to Event HQ. The surrounding area is predominantly flat and paved, with dropped kerbs and accessible routes; accessible parking and low-floor trams and buses are available though spaces may be limited.
The event is chip timed, with the timing chip attached to the race number. A staffed water station is provided around halfway on the 10k and at the finish. Official race photos are normally available within 24 to 48 hours. Headphones are permitted but must be used safely. Every finisher in all events receives a finisher medal.
