Blackall100
The Blackall100 is a trail running event held on the Sunshine Coast hinterland at Mapleton. The race routes cross the Blackall Range and run through ferny forests, subtropical rainforest, tall eucalypt stands, waterfalls and small hinterland hamlets. The event is a qualifying race for the Western States Endurance Run.
Distances offered:
- 100 km - elevation gain 3290 m
- 50 km - elevation gain 1580 m
- 21 km - elevation gain 580 m
All races start and finish at QCCC, Mapleton. Entry for each distance includes a special edition event shirt and a finishers memento; the 100 km and 50 km entries include shuttle bus support for specified checkpoints. Prizes include trophies and cash awards for top finishers in each distance, and finishers receive a commemorative bell and buff (distance-specific bells for 100, 50 and 21 km).
Safety and race support details include mandatory gear requirements, random gear checks and possible time penalties for missing items. Mandatory items include a mobile phone with emergency contacts, a course map, visible race bib, water carrying capacity (1.5 L for 100/50 km, 1 L for 21 km), a compression bandage and an emergency blanket; the 100 km also requires a hi-visibility vest and lighting. Drop bag locations are provided for specified checkpoints for each distance and must meet size and labelling rules.
Event accommodation is based at QCCC Mapleton with meals included. Bedding must be supplied by the runner or hired; a linen pack hire option is available for a fee. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
