Beerwah at Daybreak - event overview
Beerwah at Daybreak is a trail running event staged at the base of Mt Beerwah in the Glass House Mountains National Park on the Sunshine Coast. The event comprises three distances and uses marked trails around the base of Mt Beerwah. The marathon consists of two laps of the half marathon course; the first lap is run anticlockwise and the second lap clockwise.
Entries close on 30 November and there are no entries on the day. Refunds are available until 10 November and are subject to a $30 administration charge. Transfers to another person or event are not permitted. All finishers receive an event memento.
Course and logistics details:
- Marathon - two laps, elevation gain 1172 m.
- Half marathon - elevation gain 586 m.
- 10 km - elevation gain 294 m.
The course is marked with reflective orange and silver flagging tape approximately every 250 m. Red arrows indicate the correct direction and red crosses mark routes that are not part of the course. Checkpoints provide water, electrolyte and a small variety of food but no disposable cups; participants should carry a cup or use a hydration pack.
Mandatory gear includes a visible race bib, a water bottle or hydration pack (minimum 500 ml), a compression bandage and a mobile phone with emergency contacts. A headlight or suitable torch is required for the marathon. Drop bags are permitted for marathon runners and can be accessed at the end of each lap.
Support crews are not allowed on course and may remain at the start and finish area only. Spectators may view runners at the start and finish location. Parking is on the verge near the end of Mount Beerwah Road; participants are asked not to park in the National Parks carpark or on private driveways. The course may change due to bush fires, flooding or harvesting; participants must follow all course markings on race day. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
