Trail Run Australia : Sunshine Coast 24hr
Trail Run Australia Sunshine Coast is a multi-format trail running festival held at Camp SMEAC beside Ewen Maddock Dam, Landsborough, QLD. The event uses a scenic 5.0 km lap through fern-filled rainforest, singletrack and fire trail with per-lap elevation gain of approximately +99 m and loss of -99 m. Terrain per lap is about 3.99 km singletrack and 0.91 km fire trail.
Available formats and corresponding total distances:
- 24 hr : 24 laps, 120 km
- 10 hr : 10 laps, 50 km (offered as 5+5 or 10 straight)
- 5 hr : 5 laps, 25 km
- 5 km Finale : single 5 km lap
Entries are offered for solo runners, pairs and team sizes (4 and 6 persons), plus family teams for the 5 hr format. The event operates on an hourly lap format: runners may rest between laps and rejoin later; laps count when completed within the hourly window. Compulsory equipment includes enclosed running shoes, a 500 ml water bottle, race number with timing chip and a torch for overnight laps. Participants are expected to be largely self-sufficient for nutrition and hydration; a finish-line aid station and a water trailer are available at Race HQ. The event supports SMEAC, a veteran-run charity that also provides onsite catering, and includes festival features such as Wildcard Laps, a club Crate Race leaderboard and a free kids Mud Rats run at Race HQ.
Race HQ is a vehicle-free, tent-friendly zone with no open fires, cooking or overnight camping permitted onsite. First aid and staffed checkpoints are provided on course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
