Black River Trail Classic
The Black River Trail Classic takes place on October 17, 2026 in Black River State Forest near Millston, WI. The 10th running of the event starts and finishes in the Smrekar Lot.
Black River State Forest was established in 1957 and covers about 68,000 acres in Jackson County. The landscape reflects glaciation from the Ice Age and includes buttes, hills, knolls, ridges and pediments. Trails run through woodlands and rolling terrain with several scenic overlooks, ridge views and fall colors.

Registration lists entry fees for each distance with two listed amounts and notes that prices are before sales tax and UltraSignup platform fees. An early bird discount is available until 9/1/26.
Event amenities and features include a winter hat for all registrants, handcrafted wooden finisher medals, personalized bibs for early registrants, hot food at the finish, pies, chapstick, and extremely well marked courses. First time 85k finishers receive one hooded sweatshirt and a commemorative patch; subsequent 85k finishes earn additional patches.
The 85k distance combines the other courses in sequence: participants run the 10k, then the 50k, then the 25k. The 85k has a 12 hour cut off. Since 2022 there have been 11 finishers at the event.
On site camping is available and several nearby hotels serve the area. Driving directions lead to the Smrekar Lot parking area. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
