Stubborn Fool Adventure Race
The Stubborn Fool Adventure Race takes place on Saturday, April 11, 2026. The event starts from a super-secret location that will be revealed one week before race day; the start is within 30 minutes of Black River Falls, Wisconsin.
The event is a choose-your-own-route adventure race that uses map and compass navigation; GPS is not allowed. Teams locate hidden checkpoints and combine biking and trekking to complete as much of the course as they choose. Actual distance depends on route choice and how many checkpoints a team attempts; teams trying to clear the course should expect distances near the upper end of the stated ranges.
Distances
- Bike: 12 - 35 miles
- Trek: 1 - 10 miles
Division options include Family (2 to 4 person multi-generation), Coed Premier (3 or 4 person), Open Premier (3 or 4 person same gender), 2 Person Coed, 2 Person Open, Solo Man, and Solo Woman. Premier divisions are the traditional 3 or 4 person teams and receive the most awards.
The race is USARA sanctioned. Race fees cover land use fees, maps, post-race food and drink, e-punch, prizes, and give-aways. Racers must have an annual USARA membership or purchase a single-event license. Refund policy: full refund through January 11, 2026 minus registration fees; 75 percent through March 1, 2026 minus registration fees; no refunds after March 1, 2026.
