Event Overview
The Black Hills Super 6 is a fundraising event for the non-profit organization Northern Hills Area CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates). All proceeds benefit victims of child maltreatment in eight counties of western South Dakota. The event features a mountain bike race and a trail run held simultaneously on a 3-mile loop course at the Big Hill Trails in Spearfish, SD.
Event Format
Both the bike race and trail run offer 3-hour and 6-hour timed options. Participants aim to complete as many laps as possible within their chosen time duration. Courses utilize flowy single track and double track within the Black Hills National Forest.
Mountain Bike Race:
- 3-hour course: Geared for beginner riders.
- 6-hour course: Geared for intermediate-advanced riders.
- Team options are available for both durations (2 riders for 3-hour, 2-4 riders for 6-hour).
Trail Run:
- Both 3-hour and 6-hour events use a separate 3-mile loop from the bike courses.
- Team options are available (2 runners for 3-hour, 2-4 runners for 6-hour).
Additional Details
Lunch consisting of walking tacos, sweet treats, and beverages is provided for all participants. An aid station at the start/finish area offers food and drinks. A separate Strider kids' course is available for children during the event. Preferred meadow parking can be reserved with a donation. Tent camping is allowed overnight in the parking lot, but campfires are prohibited. T-shirts and tanks are available for purchase.
