Black Hills Super 6 : Big Hill Trails, Spearfish, SD
The Black Hills Super 6 is a fundraising mountain bike and trail running event held at Big Hill Trails to benefit Northern Hills Area CASA, a nonprofit that advocates for abused and neglected children in eight western South Dakota counties.
The mountain bike program uses looped courses on flowy single track and double track. Riders complete as many laps as possible within three hour or six hour time durations. Race options include solo and team entries; three hour bike teams allow a maximum of two riders and six hour bike teams allow two to four riders.
The trail run uses a separate three mile loop for both three hour and six hour run options. The run can be entered solo or as a team; three hour run teams include up to two runners and six hour run teams allow up to four runners.
An aid station at the start and finish area for bikers will offer fruit, candy, trail mix, protein bars, pickles, Gatorade, water, and pickle juice. Runners will have a separate aid station. Lunch is provided for participants and will include walking tacos, sweet treats, and beverages.
Additional details: a forest service permit is approved, tents and overnight camping in the Big Hill parking lot are permitted, and campfires are prohibited.
