Black Copperhead Sting 50k
The Black Copperhead Sting is a trail race at Rocky Branch Park in Belmont, NC, organized by Dirty Wolf Ultras. The event offers multiple distances:
- 50K
- 25K
- 5K
The main course is a looped route of 3.24 miles per lap with about 293 feet of elevation gain per loop. The route follows named trail segments (Tread, Canopy, Tread, Eagle, Finish) and is marked with red ribbons and arrows.
Aid station provisions include pickles, candy, cereal, pretzels, fruit, bacon, water, Tailwind, and sodas. First aid is on standby. The event uses a 10 hour cutoff. Trekking poles are allowed. Both runners and walkers may participate. Dogs and strollers are not permitted unless explicitly approved by organizers. The event proceeds rain or shine.
Finishers receive a handmade pottery medal from BlueGill Pottery; each medal is different. Live results are available on UltraSignup and official race photos are posted about one week after the event. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
