Event Overview
The Big Kahuna is a running event hosted by Bigfoot Running Company. It takes place at Rose Rudman Park in Tyler, Texas. The event has a tropical or luau theme.

Event Details
All participants receive a race tee shirt and a finisher medal. Kids Dash participants get a special medal. Leis are handed out at the race. Music is played at the start and finish line. There is a post-race tropical treat for runners and aid stations along the course. A tropical-themed photo backdrop is available.
The 5K and 10K distances are chip-timed and have age group awards. Awards are given for first overall male and female, first masters (40+), and standard age group placements. Age groups range from 10 & under to 70+. The course terrain is a mix of pavement, crushed granite, and some dirt paths.
Youth pricing is available for ages 12 & under. Group discounts and referral rewards are offered. Optional add-on items like a branded coconut cup, surfboard sunglasses, and a hula skirt can be purchased.
Packet pickup opens 1.5 hours before the race start. A shirt is guaranteed for those who register at least 10 days before race day.
Volunteer Opportunities
There are two volunteer options. The "Volunteer then Run" option is limited to 10 spots for the 5K only; volunteers help with packet pickup and then run the race. "Full Race Volunteer" roles include water station, course monitor, finish line helper, and others.
