Shark Week Showdown in Fort Worth
The Shark Week Showdown is an ocean-themed running event taking place at Webb Community Park in Fort Worth, Texas. Organized by the Bigfoot Running Company, the event features a variety of distances held on a course consisting of pavement, crushed granite, and dirt paths. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions, including rain or heat.
Participants can choose from several individual distance options:
- 10 km (6.22 miles)
- 5 km (3.11 miles)
- 1 Mile
- 50 m Kids Dash (ages 10 and under)
- Virtual Run (9.33 miles)
The 5 km and 10 km events are chip-timed, and the organizers provide awards for the top overall male and female finishers, as well as the top masters finishers. Standard age group awards are available in three-deep categories from ages 10 and under up to 70 and over. The 1 Mile run and the Kids Dash are not timed. Aid stations are situated along the course to support runners during their races.
Registered participants receive a themed race shirt and a finisher medal for the 1 Mile, 5 km, and 10 km distances. A separate medal is provided for the Kids Dash. The event also offers a special registration category where individuals can volunteer for packet pickup before participating in the 5 km race.
