Blazin' Summer Sufferfest, Cedar Hill State Park

Blazin' Summer Sufferfest is a night trail race held at Cedar Hill State Park on the DORBA 12-mile trail system in the southern part of the park along Joe Pool Lake. The course runs counter clockwise through forest and grasslands and is described as moderate to challenging. All race distances follow marked loops on the trail system.

Distances include:

  • ≈54K Run (3 x ≈18K loop)
  • ≈36K Run (2 x ≈18K loop)
  • ≈18K Run (1 x ≈18K loop)
  • ≈10K Run (1 ≈10K loop)
  • ≈5K Run (1 ≈5K loop)

All participants must carry a hydration device. The ≈5K has no aid stations and the ≈10K passes a single aid station at about 3.4 miles. The ≈18K, ≈36K and ≈54K visit the Copperhead Corner aid station twice per loop; runners should plan to carry enough water for multi-mile sections between aid stations. This is a cupless race; a reusable collapsible cup is available for purchase.

Additional event policies include no pacers, drop bags left at the Start/Finish at the runner's risk, distance-specific finisher medals for races 15K and over, race shirts provided to registrants, and a refund credit policy based on the time of cancellation. Cedar Hill State Park requires day passes for visitors ages 13 and older. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
