Turkey Shuffle - Houston
The Turkey Shuffle is a multi-distance running event held at Oyster Creek Park in Sugar Land, Texas. The event offers in-person and virtual options and uses mixed course surfaces; participants may run on pavement, crushed granite and occasional dirt paths. Races proceed in all weather.
Multiple event formats are provided, including a children’s sprint, untimed short runs, chip timed longer distances, and a volunteer-then-run option. Packet pickup is offered for 1.5 hours before the event start. All finishers of every distance receive a medal and a shirt, with a shirt guarantee cutoff set 10 days before the event.
A costume contest centered on Thanksgiving themes includes a Biggest Turkey Trophy and a prize pack containing a certificate for two free future races, an HEB gift card, and event swag. The 5K and 10K are chip timed and include overall trophies plus standard age group awards and masters recognition. The Kids Dash is an untimed sprint of about 50 meters for children 10 and under and includes a tee shirt, medal, and a recognition pin.
Volunteer roles range from course monitors and water station attendants to packet pickup and lead bike, with specific volunteer benefits for full race volunteers. A limited Volunteer then Run option allows a small number of people to help before running the 5K and to assist after the race. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
