Event Details
The Summer Meltdown Half Marathon - Dallas takes place at Audubon Park in Garland, Texas. The event offers several race distances: a Kids Dash (approximately 20 yards), a 1 Mile Run, a 5k (3.1 miles), a Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles), and a Half Marathon (13.1 miles). There is also a virtual run option.
The 5k, Quarter Marathon, and Half Marathon are chip-timed. Awards include overall and masters category trophies and pins, plus age group awards for the three longest distances. The Kids Dash and 1 Mile Run are not timed; participants receive a t-shirt and medal.
Course and Atmosphere
The course route includes paved trails, crushed granite, and some dirt paths, passing through areas with shaded trails, rivers, and hills. Aid stations with water are located along the course. A DJ provides music and announces runners at the finish area, where snacks and refreshments are available.
Additional Information
Packet pickup is available on the morning of the event. A limited "Volunteer then Run" option allows participants to help with setup and awards for the 5k. Standard volunteer roles are also available, with perks including a race shirt and a future free race entry or gift card. The event proceeds regardless of weather conditions.
