The Great Root Trail Race takes place on Saturday, March 7, 2026, in Dallas, TX (8701 Isom Ln, 75249). The event offers the following distances:

The 11-mile event covers one loop of the race course; the 22-mile and 33-mile events repeat the loop two and three times, respectively. Registration for the listed events opened December 5, 2025. Event prices are shown on the organizer page.

Course and logistics

The course is an approximately 11.2-mile loop on the Big Cedar Wilderness Trails, located on the Mountain Creek Church property. The loop uses named trail segments in this order: Texas Sunset, SXSW, Dragonfly, Ranger, Copperhead Ridge, Ranger, Barbwire, Ranger, then a service road to the finish. All course sections and the overall loop are run counterclockwise. Expect about 1500 ft of elevation change per loop (about 3000 ft for 22M and 4500 ft for 33M).

Packet pick up is at Trailhead Running Supply in Flower Mound on Thursday, March 5 and Friday, March 6; race-day pick up is at Big Cedar. Runners receive t-shirts and medals; ruckers receive t-shirts and challenge coins. Ruck award eligibility requires carried weight - male 30 lbs, female 20 lbs. This is a cupless event; participants should bring hydration bottles. Parking is free; cash donations are requested for Mountain Creek Church and Big Cedar Trails.
