The Great Root Trail Race
The Great Root Trail Race is scheduled for Saturday March 7, 2026 at Big Cedar Wilderness Trails on the grounds of Mountain Creek Church in Dallas, Texas (8701 Isom Ln, 75249). The event is presented by Love Never Ends Trail Series.
The course is an approximately 11.2 mile loop that uses multiple Big Cedar trail segments in a counterclockwise direction, including Texas Sunset, SXSW, Dragonfly, Copperhead Ridge, Ranger, and Barbwire. Trails feature varying elevation, technical singletrack and natural obstacles such as rocks, roots, and dirt. The loop has about 1500 ft of elevation gain and loss per circuit; roughly 3000 ft for the 22 mile option and 4500 ft for the 33 mile option.

Rucking award eligibility requires minimum carried weight of 30 pounds for males and 20 pounds for females; other ruck participants receive a challenge coin. Runners receive t shirts and medals; ruckers receive t shirts and challenge coins. Packet pick up is scheduled at Trailhead Running Supply in Flower Mound on March 5 and at Big Cedar Wilderness Pavilion on March 6 and March 7. The event is cupless; participants should bring hydration bottles, poles, and headlamps. Parking is free, with cash donations requested for Mountain Creek Church and Big Cedar Trails.
