Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Corpus Christi
The Day of the Dead Half Marathon - Corpus Christi takes place at Bayside Park. This event is part of the Texas Parks Edition series and features a variety of distances held on a course that utilizes paved trails, crushed granite, and dirt paths. The routes pass through park landscapes, lakes, and wooded areas.
The following distances are available:
- Half Marathon (13.1 miles)
- Quarter Marathon (6.55 miles)
- 5k Run (3.11 miles)
- 1 Mile Run
- Kids Dash (approximately 20 yards)
- Virtual Run
The event includes a costume contest centered on Dia de los Muertos traditions, with a panel of judges evaluating entries based on creativity and authenticity before the start. The Half Marathon, Quarter Marathon, and 5k events are chip-timed. Overall female and male winners in these categories receive trophies, while masters and age group winners are recognized with award pins.
Participants in the timed races receive a finisher medal and a t-shirt. Aid stations are located along the course to provide water for runners. After completing their distance, participants can access a rally tent featuring music, refreshments, and Mexican treats. The event proceeds regardless of rain, heat, or cold weather conditions.
