Event overview

The Big River Adventure is scheduled for Saturday, May 30, 2026, at Big River State Park, Big River Beach Boat Launch in Mendocino, California. This is the 25th annual event organized by the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County as a fundraising activity to support free services for people facing cancer in the county. The event will not provide t-shirts this year.

Events and course

The event offers multiple ways to participate:

Kiddie Race - open to ages 2 to 5
5K Run
10K Run - non-competitive
Big River Swim - non-competitive
Big River Paddle
5K Fun Walk

Course notes: 5K and 10K participants follow the haul road east to their respective turnarounds. 5K Fun Walkers use the same 5K route. The kiddie run begins at the boat launch. Swimmers enter at the boat launch and swim east up Big River. Paddlers begin at the boat launch and paddle east up Big River; paddlers must bring their own vessel.

There are multiple age divisions. Participants aged 6 to 17 may enter any race division at a discounted rate of $20. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
