Big River Adventure
The 26th annual Big River Adventure takes place at Big River State Park, starting at the Big River Beach boat launch in Mendocino, California. The event is organized by the Cancer Resource Centers of Mendocino County as a fundraising event to honor and remember those impacted by cancer and to raise funds for free services for individuals facing cancer in Mendocino County.
Event options include:
- Kiddie Race
- 5K Run
- 10K Run
- 5K Fun Walk
- Big River Swim
- Big River Paddle (bring your own vessel)
All races and water events start at the boat launch. Runners follow the haul road east to designated turnarounds for the 5K and 10K; the 5K Fun Walk follows the same route. The kiddie run begins at the boat launch. Swimmers enter the river at the boat launch and swim east up Big River. Paddlers begin at the boat launch and paddle east up Big River; paddlers must provide their own canoe or paddle board.
There are multiple race age divisions. Participants aged 6 to 17 may enter any race division at a discounted rate of $20. Listed entry fees include a $10 fee for the Kiddie Race and $35 for most other events. To keep the event affordable, no participant t-shirts will be provided this year.
