Big Red and Barbacoa 5K Run/Walk
The Big Red and Barbacoa 5K Run/Walk is an annual event held at Comanche Park in San Antonio. The race course follows the Salado Greenway, providing participants with a route through local natural surroundings. The event is organized to raise funds for the SA Eagles Athletics Club, a local sports organization.
The event includes the following distances and activities:
- 5K Run/Walk
- Free Kids Run
Participants in the 5K receive a finishers medal upon completing the course. Award medals are also presented to top finishers based on age groups divided into 10-year increments. The event features a post-race gathering where finishers can consume barbacoa tacos and Big Red soda. Music and vendor booths are located at the park pavilion area during the festivities.
Registration fees vary by age, with specific pricing for students aged 17 and under. While registration is available up until the morning of the event, the guaranteed shirt size deadline is early June. Packet pickup is scheduled for both the Thursday prior to the race and on the morning of the event at Pavilion #2. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
