Big Red and Barbacoa 5K Run/Walk : San Antonio
The Big Red and Barbacoa 5K is a community 5-kilometer run/walk held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at Comanche Park Pavilion #2, 2600 Rigsby Ave, San Antonio, TX 78210. This is the 8th annual edition. The route follows part of the Salado Greenway. The event includes a free kids run and an after party with big red beverages, barbacoa tacos, music, and other activities.
The event is organized in partnership with IAAP and is a fundraiser; all proceeds benefit SA Eagles Athletics Club. Packet pick up is scheduled the Thursday before the race and there is also race day packet pick up. Finishers receive medals, and awards are given in 10-year age groups. Registration uses tiered pricing; an early bird fee of $30 applies in January 2026. Students 17 and under have a listed fee of $25, and adults age 70 and above are listed at $30. Shirt size is guaranteed through June 5. The organizer states there are no refunds for any reason. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
