The Event

The Big Pirate Run is the 5th annual edition of this pirate-themed run. It takes place on September 19, 2026 at Garry Point Park in Richmond, British Columbia.

The Courses

Multiple distances are offered:

  • 1-3 km (Little Pirate Run) around Garry Point Park.
  • 5 km, 10 km, 15 km, and 21.1 km (half marathon) along the West Dyke and Middle Arm Trail.

The courses start at Garry Point Park and pass near Terra Nova Park, the Richmond Olympic Oval, and YVR airport. The surface is a mix of paved and gravel trails with minimal inclines. The routes are stroller and leashed dog friendly, but they must start in the last wave.

Inclusions and Services

Registration includes a bib with a customizable pirate name (if customized by August 23rd), a pirate costume item, a wooden finisher souvenir, and chip timing for the 5 km to 21.1 km distances. For the 1-3 km, a finish clock is used.

The event is held rain or shine. Bag check is available at the participant's own risk. There are no cash machines on site.

Packet Pickup

Packet pickup occurs before the event at Kintec Burnaby and the Richmond Food Bank. Onsite pickup on event day is available with a convenience fee.

Charity Partnership

The event supports the Richmond Food Bank. A free entry is available with a donation of $100 or more to the charity. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
