Big Pirate Run
The Big Pirate Run is a themed event held at Garry Point Park in Richmond, British Columbia. The courses utilize the West Dyke and Middle Arm Trails, featuring stable gravel surfaces and minimal inclines. The event is open to participants of various abilities and is both stroller and dog friendly for leashed pets.
Participants can choose from several distances:
- 1-3 km: loops of 1 km within Garry Point Park.
- 5 km, 10 km, and 15 km: measured routes with chip timing.
- 21.1 km: a half marathon distance.
Registration includes a personalized running bib with a custom "Pirate Name," a wooden finishers medal, and a costume item. Water stations are available along the routes for hydration. Time limits are in place for the longer distances, with a 2 hour and 30 minute cutoff for the 5 km to 15 km routes, and a 3 hour limit for the half marathon.
The event location is accessible via local transit from the Richmond Brighouse Canada Line Station, as well as by bicycle and walking trails. Pre-event packet pickup is available at locations in Burnaby and Richmond, while day-of pickup is available for an additional fee.
