Big Pirate Run - 5th Annual
The 5th Annual Big Pirate Run takes place at Garry Point Park on September 19, 2026. The event features multiple distances that use scenic paths around Garry Point Park and the West Dyke and Middle Arm Trails.
The available distances are:
- 1 to 3 km kids loop
- 5 km
- 10 km
- 15 km
- 21.1 km half marathon
The course is measured and chip timing is provided for the 5 km to 21.1 km distances. Trails are described as stable gravel with minimal inclines. The event is pet and stroller friendly. Participants must complete their route within 2 hours 30 minutes, or 3 hours for the half marathon.
Registration benefits include a personalised running bib with a custom pirate name, a wooden finisher medal, a costume item, a water station, entertainment, and a chance to win door prizes. Early bird pricing and group discounts are offered; example early prices are 1–3 km from $22, 5 km $40, 10 km $42, 15 km $45 and 21.1 km $50.
Advance packet pickup is available at Burnaby Kintec and at Richmond Food Bank on the days before the event. Limited parking is available at Garry Point Park and nearby street or village parking is an alternative. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
