Event Details
The Big One Run takes place on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Cascade Park in New Castle, Pennsylvania. The event includes several distances: a 1 Mile Run or Walk, a 5K Run/Walk, a combined 5K and 1 Mile option, and a 5k Virtual event.
Participant Perks and Prizes
All participants receive a Smileymiles beanie cap and a black and gold finisher medal. Coffee and cookies are provided for runners and walkers. A cash prize is awarded to the overall male and female winners of the 5k. After the 5k, six random drawing prizes are given away.
Course and Series Information
The 1-mile event starts first, followed by the 5k on a new course. The park features Big Run Falls, a waterfall noted as beautiful in winter.
This event is the first race in the nine-event Miles of Smiles series. Participants who complete the series receive a newly designed black smileymiles jacket. Virtual participation in individual series races is possible and counts toward the series completion. Other announced series events include races in Ellwood City, Butler, Moraine State Park, Hermitage, Sandy Lake, Beaver Falls, Kittanning, and Buhl Park Hermitage.
