Event Overview
The Big Horse Vineyards 5K, hosted by Gut Check Fitness, consists of an all-terrain course located in Lewistown, Illinois. The event features a trail race environment that incorporates natural obstacles including hills, hollers, streams, and ponds. Participants navigate through the grounds of Big Horse Vineyards, which transition through varied landscape features such as mud and water crossings.
Participants can choose from several event categories:
- 5K trail race available for individual competitive athletes, teams of three or more, or as a non-timed fun run.
- 1 Mile beer mile for individual participants or relay teams of two to four people.
The competitive 5K heats are timed, with awards provided for the top three finishers. The fun run category is not timed and does not offer awards. Due to the nature of the terrain, participants between the ages of 9 and 12 are required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian during the entire race.
For the beer mile, participants must be at least 21 years old. The format involves drinking a beer followed by a 400-meter run, repeated for four rounds.
