Both routes are single-loop, very technical mountain trails with rocks, roots, steep climbs and descents, rocky cliffs and a short scramble. The half marathon has about 2,200 ft of cumulative elevation gain, with roughly 1,000 ft of gain in the first four miles. The 10K has about 1,200 ft of elevation gain. There is a 5-hour finish cutoff for both events; the half marathon has two on-course cutoffs.
The start and finish are at Powerhouse Park in Tuxedo, NY. There is a $3 parking fee for the commuter lot. The half marathon has two aid stations (around mile 4.7 and mile 9.5) offering water, sports drink, fruit, bars, pb&j and some gluten-free options; the 10K uses the aid station on an out-and-back at about mile 2.5. Required gear for all participants includes a charged cell phone, GPX of the course on a device, water, at least 200 extra calories and a whistle. Pacers/guides are allowed for participants age 60 and older and for athletes with disabilities. Dogs are not permitted. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
