The event offers two waymarked, point-to-point or looped trail distances and provides chip timing, feed stations, medical support, GPX route files, and a finishers' medal. Routes and logistics

Distances:

  • 55 km Ultra
  • 25 km Trail

The 55 km route follows the River Tyne to Wylam, crosses the Tyne, runs to Derwenthaugh Marina, follows the River Derwent to High Spen, passes through Chopwell Woods and Lintzford, drops into the Derwent Valley, follows the Derwent Walk back to the Tyne, and returns along the river to finish at the Swing Bridge (Newcastle side). The 25 km route starts on the Swing Bridge, follows the Tyne, crosses Scotswood Bridge, meets the Derwent and loops around Derwent Walk Country Park, then returns to finish at the Swing Bridge.

Feed stations: three on the 55 km course (including Wylam Car Park and two on the Derwent Walk) and one on the 25 km course (shared on the Derwent Walk). Route surfaces are a mix of paved and unpaved paths; the organisers advise using a GPS device and downloading the GPX file before the event. Age limits apply: entrants must meet the minimum age for their chosen distance. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
