Beyond Manchester - Event overview
Wild Deer Events stages Beyond Manchester on 18 July 2026 in Castlefields, Manchester City Centre. The event offers the following route options:
- 55 km ULTRA route
- 25 km TRAIL RUN
The 55 km ULTRA route starts in the Castlefield area and runs through the city to the Manchester Ship Canal. It then follows canals and the Salford Quays past the BBC buildings, crosses from the Manchester Canal to the Bridgewater Canal, and passes the Imperial War Museum North with views of Old Trafford. The route continues through Eccles where it changes from canal towpath to a disused railway, then heads north through outer suburbs to Bolton before turning east toward Bury. Runners cover over 10 km on the Irwell Sculpture Trail with views over the Irwell valley, and the course returns into the city centre to pass cathedrals, law courts and other historical buildings.
The 25 km TRAIL RUN also starts in Castlefield, follows city streets to the Manchester Ship Canal, and passes Salford Quays and the BBC buildings. It crosses to the Bridgewater Canal, goes by the Imperial War Museum North and sightlines to Old Trafford, passes through Eccles to the River Irwell, then returns into Manchester city centre to finish past notable historical buildings.
Routes move off paved streets into greenbelt and the outer edges beyond the city and are open to runners and walkers. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
