Scenic Reservoir Trail Runs
The Bewl Water Autumn is a bi-annual race series situated near Lamberhurst, Kent. The event offers a variety of distances that primarily follow the perimeter of the Bewl Water reservoir. Participants run on a mix of undulating rural wooded trails and quiet country lanes, with the reservoir visible for the majority of the routes.
The event features four distinct course options:
- 10 km: An out-and-back route with a 2.5-hour time limit.
- Half Marathon: A 13.1-mile course consisting of a short initial loop followed by one full loop of the reservoir.
- Marathon: A 26.5-mile course involving an initial loop followed by two full circuits of the reservoir.
- Ultra 50km: A 31.25-mile distance comprising two full circuits and a final shorter loop.
The terrain is varied, with approximately 70% of the course providing shade. While organizers take care to measure distances using professional GPS equipment, trail distances may vary slightly based on the line taken by the runner. The marathon distance is noted as being slightly longer than the standard 26.2 miles.
The start and finish area is located near the Bewl Water Visitor Centre. Aid stations are positioned along the course, providing water and snacks such as pretzels, electrolytes, and fruit to participants. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
