Event overview
The Rye Ancient Trails is a multi-terrain, hilly trail race around the medieval town of Rye in East Sussex. The event links ancient trails in the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and passes the Norman churches of Rye, Iden, Beckley, Northiam and Peasmarsh. The race traditionally starts on the high street with a Town Crier and has a community focus; the 2026 charity partner is The Oliver Curd Trust. The next occurrence is listed as 13/09/2026.

The route includes about 1,500 ft of climb. Detailed route maps and downloadable GPX files are available for entrants.
Route and logistics
Race headquarters is Rye Sports Centre, Rye, East Sussex, TN31 7ND. The sports centre is located behind Rye railway station. On-site parking is available and local parking charges may apply. Limited bus services serve the area.
Entrants receive a bespoke medal and free photographs. Trophies and prizes are provided for leading runners. On-the-day entry fees (subject to availability) are listed as £40 for the 30k and £35 for the 15k. Local volunteers act as marshals and the Girl Guides serve refreshments at the finish.
