Bessemer Hometown Run
The Bessemer Hometown Run returns for its 36th annual edition in Bessemer, Michigan. The event takes place on June 27, 2026, as part of the community's week-long Independence Day celebrations. Both the run and walk events begin at the intersection of Sophie Street and Colby Street, right at the Bessemer City Hall.
Participants can choose from multiple event categories:
- 10K run
- 2 mile run/walk
- 2 mile stroller division
The event features several competition categories, including age groups ranging from 9 and under to 75 and older. Immediately following the races, an awards ceremony recognizes the overall male and female winners, along with the top two male and female finishers in each specific age group. There is a dedicated award for the overall fastest participant using a stroller in the 2 mile event.
In addition to individual recognition, the event honors community participation with a special award for the family that brings the highest number of participants. The run is a central component of local festivities that continue through July 4, ending with a fireworks display. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
