Berry Picker Trail Run : Vail, Colorado
The Berry Picker Trail Run is a single long uphill trail race on Vail Mountain that finishes at Mid-Vail. The course covers 6.9K (4.3 miles) of predominantly singletrack and doubletrack terrain with 2,013 feet of elevation gain, a high point near 10,154 feet and a low point near 8,279 feet. Maximum and average grade figures from the course file are provided by the organizer.
Runners ascend Berry Picker Trail, turn left onto Lower Fireweed, traverse east toward Mid-Vail, exit onto the Mountain Access Road and finish at Mid-Vail. An aid station is located about mile 1.9 on the Berry Picker climb; water and Skratch Labs hydration are available at aid stations. The series emphasizes minimal waste and encourages reusable hydration devices.
Registration is available online and in person; published entry fees are Individual preregistration $40, week-of $48, and day-of $55, with youth (17 and younger) receiving a 35% discount. Online registration closes at 3 p.m. the day before the race. Day-of bib pickup and registration locations are provided by the organizer.
Spectators can access the finish area via the gondola while it operates for the event; dogs and bikes are not allowed on the gondola during the race. Post-race amenities for participants include event t-shirts, donuts and fresh fruit, awards by age group for the top three males and females, and a participant raffle.
