Run The Rockies Trail Race
The Run the Rockies Trail event consists of three distinct trail running races held on the Frisco Peninsula. Participants can choose between a 5 km, 10 km, or a Half Marathon. All distances start and finish at the Frisco Nordic Center.
The course utilizes a combination of single track trails and dirt roads. Runners pass through scenic areas offering views of the Dillon Reservoir and the Ten Mile Range. The Half Marathon route includes specific single track sections, while all three distances conclude with a stretch along the lakeshore of the Dillon Reservoir.
The event provides several services and amenities for registered participants:
- 5 km: A course suitable for those who prefer to walk. No aid stations are located on this route.
- 10 km: Includes two aid stations located at mile 1.4 and mile 3.9. There is a cut-off time of 10:30 am.
- Half Marathon: Includes three aid stations at miles 3.1, 8.3, and 10.9. This distance also has a 10:30 am cut-of time.
Aid stations are stocked with water, hydration mix, fruit, and snacks such as pretzels and gummy bears. Professional chip-timing is provided for all racers. After the event, participants can access food and a post-race celebration at Slopeside Hall. Awards are presented to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as first-place winners in various age categories ranging from 19 and under to 80 plus.
The races take place on public trails within the Town of Frisco and the US Forest Service land. Participants are required to sign an online waiver to receive their timing bib. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
