Bennington Museum 250th Half
The Bennington Museum 250th Half is a 13.1 miles loop course held on Saturday, May 15, 2027, that retraces the initial movement of John Stark and his troops from the Catamount Tavern prior to the Battle of Bennington. The USDA certified half marathon starts and finishes at Bennington Museum and is chip timed. All funds raised support programming at Bennington Museum.
The course begins with about two miles of uphill running around the Monument then continues over generally flat sections by Colgate Park and the Hubbell Homestead on Route 9 near the historic encampment site by Dimmick’s Tavern. Runners turn onto Jewitt Road and descend past the airport and Harmon’s Tavern, pass Breakenridge Farm, the Warner farmstead, and the Henry House, then cross the Walloomsac River. Around mile 8.5 the route gains elevation on Park Street’s hard packed gravel, passes the Park McCullough House and Bennington College, then descends toward the Silk Road Bridge before a sustained climb on Silk Road to Vail Road and a return to Monument Circle. The final section is a downhill approach back to the museum.
On-course services include water at miles 3, 5.5, 7.5, 9, 10.5, and 11.5; sports drinks and GU at miles 7.5 and 10.5; and portable toilets at miles 7.5 and 10.5 near parking areas by the Henry Bridge and the Silk Road Bridge. Packet pickup is scheduled on the day prior and the day of the event. Parking is available at Bennington Museum and Monument Elementary School.
