Belvidere Heritage Days 5k
The Belvidere Heritage Days 5k is a community running and walking event held in Belvidere, Illinois. The race takes place on a route that follows the Kishwaukee River path. Participants travel through Belvidere Park before returning to the start and finish area located at Doty Park in the downtown area. The event is part of a larger festival weekend dedicated to celebrating the history and community of the region.
The event offers the following distances:
- 5 km run and walk
- 400-500 meters free kids race
The 5 km course is open to both runners and walkers. Dogs and strollers are permitted on the course, provided that participants stay to the side of the path to accommodate other runners. The free kids race is held entirely within the boundaries of Doty Park on a circular path.
Participants may collect their race packets on the day before the event at the Belvidere Area Chamber of Commerce office or on the morning of the race at Doty Park. Registration includes a race shirt for those who sign up before the specified June deadline. On-site registration is also available during designated times at the Chamber office and at the park on the day of the event. Proceeds from the race are used to support the future of the local heritage festival. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
