Belle Fourche Rodeo Run 5K/10K
The Belle Fourche Rodeo Run is presented as the oldest road race in western South Dakota. It began in 1978 as a last-minute plan when a carnival could not attend the Black Hills Roundup festivities. Originally a 10K, the event now offers both 5K and 10K distances. Proceeds are donated to youth sports and activities in Belle Fourche and the surrounding area.
The race takes place on July 4 during the Black Hills Roundup and is based at Herrmann Park in Belle Fourche, SD. Local law enforcement officers are listed as participating in the event; some officers are expected to run in full duty kit. Event materials reference rodeo imagery and law enforcement together, using phrases such as "Broncs, buckles, and badges."
Registration information and fees are published for the 2026 edition. Registration closes at 6 P.M. on July 3, 2026, and registering before Noon on Wednesday, June 10 guarantees a shirt. Prices shown are inclusive of mandatory charges and fees.
