Belfast to Dublin Ultra 2027

The Belfast to Dublin Ultra takes place on 9 October 2027. The event is a continuous non-stop point-to-point ultra with a total time limit of 30 hours. Competitors must be 18 or over. The race starts at the Big Fish in Belfast and uses GPX navigation and live trackers.

All competitors must carry compulsory kit at all times, including a mobile phone with a power bank, waterproof jacket, foil blanket, head torch with backup, emergency food, a warm base layer for night running, and a hat or buff. Event numbers must be visible on the front, hi viz with reflective strips must be worn at all times, and trackers must be attached to the backpack. Trackers must be returned after retirement or the competitor will be charged £130 for replacement.

There are three strict cutoffs tied to distance: 40 miles, 70 miles and 100 mile checkpoints with set cutoff times. Stopping for more than 40 minutes results in automatic retirement and movements are monitored by trackers. Checkpoints and aid station locations will be confirmed before the event.

Drop bag rules: two small drop bags are allowed, clearly marked with name and race number and labelled drop bag 1 or 2. Do not bring large suitcases or valuables. Drop bags can be reclaimed at the finish; uncollected items will be held briefly then returned at the owner’s expense or disposed of.

Crews are permitted with conditions: crew members must wear hi viz outside vehicles, vehicles must remain stationary when competitors use them, and crews must provide a mobile number to race HQ. Buddies and pacers are not allowed. Drink and drugs are prohibited. Competitors must notify race HQ on retiring. Organisers and medics may withdraw any competitor judged unfit or unlikely to make cutoffs. The GPX route will be emailed in advance and a tracker link will be available for phones. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
