7th Beebe Heroes 5K
The Beebe Heroes 5K is an out and back running and walking event located in Lewes, Delaware. The race follows a flat course situated just east of the canal, starting and finishing at Irish Eyes Pub. Organized by the Seashore Striders, the event serves as a fundraiser for the Beebe Medical Foundation and is the seventh race in the Seashore Strider Championship Series.
Participants can choose from several distance options:
- 3.11 miles (5K Run)
- 3.11 miles (5K Walk)
- 400 yards (Kiddie Dash)
The event utilizes the Chronotrack B Chip system for timing. The 5K walk is a judged division following USATF standards, requiring competitors to maintain ground contact at all times. For the younger participants, the 400 yard Kiddie Dash consists of a 200 meter out and 200 meter back course.
Participants who register by the specified early deadline are guaranteed a custom-printed t-shirt. The event includes a post-race awards ceremony held at Irish Eyes Pub shortly after the final finisher. Awards are presented to overall champions, masters winners, and the top three finishers in sixteen different age categories ranging from 9 & under to 80+. Walkers are recognized with medals for the top five male and female finishers. Children participating in the Kiddie Dash receive finisher medals and access to entertainment such as face painting and a balloon artist.
