Event overview
The Bedford Triathlon Team Relays is a team triathlon held at Box End Park, Kempston, Bedford (MK43 8RQ). The event uses a three-person team format and is sponsored by Zone3. It works with Women in Tri / Fund Her Tri UK to encourage more female participation. Entry is limited to 144 teams.
Format and course
A team consists of three athletes who each complete the swim, the bike, and the run in relay; all three members must complete each discipline in turn before the team moves on to the next discipline. Distances are:
- Swim: 750 m
- Bike: 23 km
- Run: 5 km
The swim takes place on the lake at Box End with an individual, spaced start arranged by expected swim times. The bike is a single 23 km lap with an internal loop on local roads, including country lanes and faster sections. The run follows the Box End pre-marked 5K route in the opposite direction. Routes are covered by OS Map 208.
Rules, categories and facilities
Participants must hold a British Triathlon race licence (annual membership or single-use race pass). Team members must be aged 15 by 31 December (14 year olds may compete if their next birthday is before year end). Prize categories include top three Open (male), Female, Mixed, and Veteran teams (each member 45+) in the same categories. Only people who are female sex at birth may enter the female category; all individuals may enter the open category. A mobile medical crew will be on standby. Toilet facilities are in the clubhouse with additional portable toilets near transition. Parking is available within the main event area. A course record time of 3:36:22 was set in 2025 by a team from Cambridge Triathlon Club. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
