Bedford Triathlon Team Relays
The Bedford Triathlon Team Relays is a team-based sprint triathlon held at Box End Park, Kempston, Bedford (MK43 8RQ). The event uses a three-person relay format in which each team member completes the swim, the bike and the run in turn; all changeovers take place in transition.
Course distances are:
- Swim 750 m
- Bike 23 km
- Run 5 km
The swim and run take place within the Box End venue. The bike course is a single 23 km lap on local roads with an internal loop, described as a mixture of country lanes and faster sections and marked for riders. OS Map 208 covers the routes. A mobile medical crew will be on standby and toilet facilities are available in the clubhouse with additional portable units near transition. There are no aid stations on the route; a tea tent and homemade cakes are offered at the venue.
Entry is for teams of three and the event is limited to 144 teams. Competitors must hold British Triathlon membership or a single-use race pass. Team members must be aged 15 by 31 December of the event year (14-year-olds may take part if their birthday falls before the end of the year). Prize categories include top three Open (male), Female, Mixed, and veteran team categories for teams with members aged 45 and over. Only people who are female sex at birth may enter the female category; all competitors may enter the open category per licensing requirements.
