Event Overview
The Bedford Triathlon Team Relays is a team-based triathlon event. Teams consist of three athletes who each complete a full triathlon leg in a relay format. Each team member completes a swim, a bike, and a run leg in sequence, with all changeovers occurring in the transition area.
Course Details
The event follows a sprint-distance triathlon format. The individual leg distances are:
- Swim: 750m in a lake at Box End Park.
- Bike: 23km on a single-lap road route featuring country lanes and some fast sections.
- Run: 5km on a marked route within Box End Park.
The swim and run take place within the park grounds. The bike course uses local public roads.
Participation Details
The event is open to individual teams and clubs. Entries are capped at 144 teams. Participants must be at least 15 years old by December 31st of the event year. A valid British Triathlon race license (Core or Ultimate membership) or a single-use Race Pass is required to compete. Entry fees apply per team, with an additional charge for participants without a British Triathlon membership.
Categories and Facilities
Prizes are awarded for the top three teams in the Open (Male), Female, and Mixed categories. Veteran team categories (all members aged 45+) are also offered. On-site facilities include toilet facilities in the clubhouse and additional portable toilets. Parking is available within the event area. A tea tent serves refreshments, but there are no official aid stations on the course. Visit the organization's website for the most recent information.
