Organized by Active Southern West Virginia, the Beckley Half Marathon and 5K returns to the Exhibition Coal Mine on September 26, 2026. The half runs along the rail trail and uptown while the 5K is an out and back; kids 12 and under race free.

Beckley Half Marathon & 5K

Organized by Active Southern West Virginia, the Beckley Half Marathon and 5K takes place on September 26, 2026, with start and finish at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine. The half marathon follows the scenic rail trail, continues uptown, and returns to the rail trail for the finish. The 5K is an out and back course. Kids 12 and under may race the 5K for free.

The event includes chip timing, water stations on the route, finish line photos, and finisher medals for all participants. Top finisher medals are awarded in male and female divisions for age groups 0-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70 plus. All participants receive a short sleeve unisex commemorative t-shirt and a post-race meal featuring bean soup, cornbread, and West Virginia pepperoni rolls. Active SWV does not mail race bibs, shirts, finisher medals, or awards unless participants provide a $10 donation to cover shipping and handling after the event.

Entry fees increase in stages; half marathon registration begins at $60 and is $80 on race day, while 5K registration begins at $30 and is $50 on race day.
