Purpose and beneficiary
The event is organized in memory of a 14-year-old girl who died on January 31, 2022 after contracting COVID and then being diagnosed with leukemia; she died 33 days after that diagnosis. The family volunteered with the National Charity League and supported Retrievers and Friends of Southern CA. A portion of each registration fee will be donated to Retrievers and Friends of Southern CA, an all-volunteer nonprofit that works to find homes for dogs and cats.
